Taxi to the SCG: drop-off on Driver Avenue and nearby
The Sydney Cricket Ground is on Driver Avenue, Moore Park NSW 2021, alongside Allianz Stadium. The Moore Park precinct traffic plan lists formal passenger drop-off on event days at the northern and southern ends of Driver Avenue (western kerb), which is heavily managed by traffic staff. On the biggest days Driver Avenue can be partly closed to through traffic, with drop-off areas reached from Lang Road instead.
Transport for NSW lists the closest taxi rank in the precinct on Errol Flynn Boulevard, near the Hordern Pavilion, at the Entertainment Quarter. Special event clearways can apply on parts of Moore Park Road, Lang Road, Fitzroy Street, Albion Street and Cleveland Street, so cars cannot simply pull over wherever is convenient. We check the arrangements for your match and your chauffeur confirms the exact point before you arrive.
SCG transfers for a full day of Test cricket
The SCG is home ground for the Sydney Sixers in the BBL and the Sydney Swans in the AFL, and it hosts Test, one-day and T20 internationals. A Test match is a long day, often across several days, and that changes how you plan transport:
- Book all days at once. Same pickup time, same fixed fare each day, one booking to manage.
- Pick your leaving time. Leave at tea, at stumps or after the last over; tell us your plan and we schedule the car.
- Bring the esky-free essentials. Hats, sunscreen and bags stay in the car on the way, not in your lap on a crowded tram.
For a twilight BBL game the timing flips: you travel in the late-afternoon peak and leave after dark, so a pre-booked return is the part that saves you the most hassle.

SCG transfers from Sydney Airport and city hotels
From T1 International the SCG is about 14 km by road, typically 20 to 30 minutes off-peak via Southern Cross Drive and the Eastern Distributor, and longer at peak times or before a big crowd. From CBD hotels it is only about 3.5 km, but on match days the last kilometre around Moore Park is the slow part.
Flying in on the morning of a match? Your chauffeur tracks the flight, meets you in arrivals and can drop your bags at your hotel on the way. The A$12 airport pickup charge is built into the fixed price. Staying in the Eastern Suburbs instead? See our Eastern Suburbs airport transfers page.
Light rail, walking or a private car to Moore Park
Public transport works well for many fans, and tickets to some major matches include it. The L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford light rail lines stop at Moore Park on Anzac Parade, and Transport for NSW suggests the roughly 25-minute walk from Central via Devonshire Street and the Albert 'Tibby' Cotter Walkway to avoid the queues. Buses from Bondi Junction also run to Oxford Street, within walking distance.
A private car is the better choice when you are coming from a suburb without an easy connection, travelling with children or older family members, carrying a lot of gear for a long day, or when you just want a guaranteed ride home rather than a long tram queue after the last ball. See our event transfers page for how we run match days.
Booking your return from the SCG
When a match ends, light rail queues build quickly and roads around Moore Park stay slow until the crowd thins. We recommend booking your return with your outbound trip. Give us your expected leaving time, and we will suggest a meeting point a short walk from the ground, outside the closures. Your chauffeur's number is in your confirmation; call or message as you head for the gate.
Fares start at A$70 for a sedan, A$80 for an SUV, A$90 for a Maxi 7 and A$110 for a Maxi 11, with longer trips priced on distance as a fixed total. For a group of 7 to 11, our maxi taxi is usually the simplest option.
