University of Sydney Airport Transfers for Students & Families

Free uni shuttle or a private car? Check this first

Before you book anything, check whether you qualify for the University's own service. The University of Sydney says it offers a free airport shuttle to central Sydney locations for new, enrolled international students, booked through its provider's online portal. If you are eligible and the timing works, use it.

A private SkyMiles transfer is the better choice when:

• you are not eligible, for example you are a domestic or returning student, or a visiting academic;
• your family is flying in with you and you want to travel together;
• you have more luggage than a shared service allows, or you are arriving outside its hours;
• you are going somewhere other than the shuttle's drop-off locations.

Sydney Airport to the University of Sydney: what to expect

The main Camperdown/Darlington campus is on the corner of Parramatta Road and City Road, Camperdown NSW 2006, with main entrances on both roads. It is about 12 km by road from T1 International, usually around 20 to 30 minutes off-peak, and only about 4 km from the CBD. The University itself notes that there is no direct bus or train from the airport to campus, so public transport means at least one change with your bags.

After landing at T1, you clear immigration, collect your bags and go through biosecurity. Your chauffeur tracks your flight and waits in the arrivals hall, so a slow queue at customs does not matter. We drive you to your college, residence or private room and help carry bags to the entrance.

University of Sydney transfers to residences and nearby suburbs

Students live all around the campus: on-campus colleges and residences, student accommodation in Redfern, Newtown, Glebe, Ultimo and Haymarket, and share houses further out. Tell us the exact address and any building or entrance name when you book. If you have not got your keys until later in the day, we can take you to a temporary address first and move you and your bags on another day.

Families, parents and graduation visits

Many parents fly in with a new student, or come back for graduation. A family of four with suitcases fits comfortably in an SUV, and a family of five or six in a Maxi 7. For graduation week, you can book the airport pickup, a trip to campus on the day and a return to the airport as one set of bookings at fixed prices. Fares and how to book

Fares are fixed and shown before you book. Short trips start at A$70 for a sedan and A$80 for an SUV, and airport trips are priced on distance with the A$12 airport pickup charge included. Our fare calculator gives an estimate for your address. To book, send us your flight number, arrival date and time, passenger and bag numbers, and your destination address.
