Taxi to RPA hospital: entrances and drop-off zones
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital is on Missenden Road, Camperdown NSW 2050. According to the hospital, patients can be dropped off or picked up at any of the timed drop-off zones outside the main entrance points. The main entrances you are most likely to need:
- RPA main entrance, off Missenden Road.
- King George V entrance, off Missenden Road, opposite the main entrance.
- Women and Babies entrance, off Johns Hopkins Drive.
- Gloucester House and the Atrium, near Gloucester Drive.
Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, the cancer treatment centre next to RPA at 119-143 Missenden Road, has its main entrance on Salisbury Road with a free 15-minute pick-up and drop-off zone at the front. Tell us the building and the clinic or ward when you book, and we will drop you at the closest entrance rather than the front gate.
RPA discharge pickup and taking a newborn home
Discharge times are hard to predict. Paperwork, a final check or a pharmacy wait can push things back by an hour or two. When you book a discharge pickup with us:
- Give us an estimated time and the entrance, and call or message your chauffeur once you have the all-clear.
- If you are taking a baby home, add a rear-facing capsule for A$10 when you book. It is fitted before we arrive, so you are not wrestling with a seat in the car park.
- We help with bags, flowers and the pram, and drive gently.
Our baby seat taxi page explains the seats we carry, and our NSW baby car seat rules guide covers what the law requires for children in cars.

Visiting RPA from the airport or interstate
Families often fly in to be with someone at RPA. The hospital is about 10 km by road from Sydney Airport's T1 International terminal, usually around 20 to 25 minutes off-peak, and about 4 to 5 km from the CBD. Your chauffeur tracks your flight, meets you in arrivals and can take you to your accommodation first or straight to the hospital. We fold the A$12 airport access charge into the quote, so there is nothing extra to pay on the day.
Visiting hours for general wards are listed by NSW Health as 10am to 8pm daily, with a rest period in the middle of the day and different arrangements for intensive care, so check with the ward before you travel. Staying near the University of Sydney next door? Our University of Sydney transfers page covers that area too.
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital taxi for regular appointments
Regular treatment, such as a course of appointments over several weeks, is tiring enough without worrying about the drive and the car park. RPA's staff and visitor car park is entered via Hospital Road, off Carillon Avenue, with casual hourly rates. Many patients prefer to be dropped at the door and collected afterwards. We can set up a recurring booking with the same pickup time, and you call or message when you are ready to leave.
Please tell us when you book if the passenger uses a walking frame or folding wheelchair, so we can check it fits the vehicle. We do not operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles, so passengers need to be able to get in and out of a standard car seat with little assistance.
What we do and do not do
We are a private transfer company. We are a good fit for planned trips: appointments, visits, discharge home, and airport runs for family. We are not the right service for anyone who needs medical supervision, a stretcher or a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, and we do not provide medical advice. For those needs, ask the hospital about patient transport options. In an emergency, call 000.
Fares start at A$70 in a sedan for short trips, A$80 for an SUV and A$90 or A$110 for our 7 and 11-seat maxi vans, with longer trips priced on distance and always fixed before you book. Ring 0434 663 034 and we will price the trip from your front door.
