Taxi fare from Sydney Airport to Macquarie University
The Wallumattagal campus is about 25 km by road from T1 International, typically around 35 to 45 minutes off-peak via the city and the Lane Cove Tunnel, and longer in weekday peak hour. Our price is a fixed fare based on that distance and your vehicle, with the A$12 airport pickup charge included, so it does not rise if you hit traffic on the M2 or Epping Road. Use our fare calculator for an estimate, or enter your exact address on the booking page for the locked-in price. Fares from the nearby Ryde area are listed on our Ryde airport transfers page.
Macquarie's own airport shuttle: free or private?
Macquarie University runs an airport shuttle service for students. It says students can travel free to the Macquarie Park district, and anywhere else within Sydney from A$75, with bookings made at least three working days before arrival, a student ID and a confirmed flight and accommodation. If that suits you, it is a good deal.
SkyMiles is the alternative when you are not a Macquarie student (a visiting researcher, a parent or a conference guest), when you are booking at short notice, when your family is travelling with you, or when you want a private car rather than a shared service.

Getting onto the Wallumattagal campus by car
Macquarie University says vehicles can enter the campus from four roads: Culloden Road (via Hadenfield Avenue, Link Road and Gymnasium Road), Talavera Road (via Research Park Drive), Herring Road (via Innovation Road and University Avenue) and Epping Road (via Balaclava Road). Vehicles are only allowed on public access roads. There is short-term drop-off near the Sport and Aquatic Centre and the childcare centres, and more than 4,500 parking spaces across 14 car parks.
Tell us your building, residence or the nearest named walkway when you book, and we will use the right entry rather than circling the ring road.
Metro or private car?
The campus has its own metro station, Macquarie University, on the corner of Herring Road and University Avenue, a two-minute walk from campus. From the airport, though, the train journey involves changes, and with two big suitcases that is hard work on your first day. A private car goes door to door. For later trips into the city, the metro is often the easiest option, and we are happy to recommend it.
Families, groups and visiting academics
For a family moving a student in, an SUV takes up to 4 passengers with 3 large bags and a Maxi 7 up to 6 passengers with 5 large and 4 small bags. For a group arriving on the same flight, our Maxi 11 takes up to 11 passengers. Researchers and guests visiting the campus or the businesses around it can book a sedan for a quieter ride and a fixed corporate price; see our Macquarie Park corporate transfers page. Your chauffeur meets you in arrivals; our Sydney Airport pick-up page explains where.
Student housing around Macquarie Park
Many Macquarie students live on or right next to campus, and many more rent in Marsfield, Macquarie Park, North Ryde, Epping or Eastwood. MQ Accommodation, the university’s housing team, is based at 15-17 Gymnasium Road on campus, which is handy if you need to collect keys on arrival day. Give us your exact address, including any building or block name, and tell us if you need to stop for keys first. If your room is not ready until the afternoon, we can drop you at a temporary address and pick up again later as a separate booking. Staying in Epping? Our Epping airport transfers page lists fares from there.
