Taxi to Westmead Hospital: which entrance to use
Westmead Hospital is on the corner of Hawkesbury Road and Darcy Road, Westmead NSW 2145. It is a large campus with several entrances, and Western Sydney Local Health District's guides name the ones visitors use most:
- Entrance 4, the main hospital entrance, near Car Park 2 off Darcy Road.
- Entrance 9, opposite the Westmead Hospital pharmacy.
- Entrance 10, near the Children's Hospital emergency department, on Hawkesbury Road.
The Children's Hospital at Westmead is on the corner of Hawkesbury Road and Hainsworth Street, and the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network lists a 15-minute drop-off and pick-up zone outside the Children's Emergency Department entrance. The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre is served by Car Park 4 on Hawkesbury Road. Tell us your clinic or ward and we will drop you at the closest door.
Sydney Airport to Westmead: a private airport shuttle alternative
Relatives often fly into Sydney to be with someone at Westmead, and patients sometimes travel from interstate for specialist care. Westmead is about 29 km by road from T1 International, usually around 35 to 45 minutes off-peak via the motorways, and much longer in peak hour. Rather than a shared airport shuttle that stops at other addresses, a SkyMiles car meets you in arrivals with flight tracking and takes you straight to the hospital or your accommodation. The A$12 airport pickup charge is included in the fixed fare.
If you are staying in Parramatta, see our Parramatta airport transfers page for the fare table; Westmead is just to the west of the Parramatta CBD. Our Sydney Airport shuttle page explains how a private shuttle compares with shared services.

Discharge pickups and going home with a baby
When someone is being discharged, the time often moves. Give us your best estimate and the entrance, then call or message your chauffeur once you have the all-clear. If there is a newborn or a young child going home, add the right seat when you book: a rear-facing capsule, a forward-facing seat or a booster, each A$10 and fitted before we arrive. We help with bags, flowers and the pram. See our baby seat taxi page for details.
For families visiting the Children's Hospital with siblings, an SUV or a 7-seat maxi gives everyone room, and you can book the return for the end of visiting time.
Getting around the Westmead campus
Once you are inside, Westmead Hospital runs a volunteer visitor buggy service on level 2 (the entry level), Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, for people who cannot walk to their destination. WSLHD also notes direct taxi telephones at the main hospital entrances. If you have pre-booked with us, you will not need them: your chauffeur's number is in your confirmation, so you can call when you are leaving.
Our fleet is standard sedans, SUVs and vans with no wheelchair lifts or ramps, so the passenger needs to be able to step into a normal seat with a little help at most. Mention any walker or folding chair when booking and we will make sure there is boot space.
Train, light rail or a private car
Public transport to Westmead is good. NSW Health says Westmead station, on the T1 Western and T5 Cumberland lines, is about 250 metres from the hospital, roughly an 8-minute walk via Railway Parade and Hawkesbury Road. The L4 Parramatta Light Rail has a Westmead Hospital stop on Hawkesbury Road, and T-way buses T61 to T66 stop on Darcy Road.
A car makes sense after surgery or treatment, when you are carrying a lot, for early or late appointments, or for a trip home that would otherwise need two or three changes. Fares start at A$70 for a sedan on short trips, with longer trips priced on distance and always fixed. Call 0434 663 034 for your quote.
