Taxi to Prince of Wales Hospital: entrances on the Randwick campus
Prince of Wales Hospital is on the block bounded by High Street, Barker Street, Botany Street and Avoca Street in Randwick, about 6 km from the Sydney CBD. Its postal address is Barker Street, Randwick NSW 2031. The hospital lists four places to ask for directions:
- Barker Street entrance: the Randwick campus information counter, open 8am to 8:30pm, seven days.
- High Street entrance: the Prince of Wales information counter.
- Botany Street entrance: another information counter.
- Magill Street: the Emergency Department entrance, open 24 hours.
The campus map marks drop-off and pick-up points by the main entrances. Tell us the building and department when you book, and if you are heading to the Acute Services Building, mention it, as the hospital notes it is closest to the High Street side.
Royal Hospital for Women: taking your baby home
The Royal Hospital for Women is on the same campus, with its entrance on Barker Street leading to the admissions and enquiries desk, which the hospital says is open 24 hours a day. If you are going home with a newborn:
- Book ahead and add a rear-facing capsule for A$10; it is fitted before we arrive.
- Give us your expected discharge time and call or message your chauffeur when you are cleared to leave.
- We help with bags, flowers and the pram.
If someone is driving in to visit during your stay, the hospital's maternal fetal medicine page says families visiting get three hours of free parking with a validated ticket, so ask staff about validation. Our baby seat taxi page explains our seats, and our travelling with kids guide helps if you are flying home afterwards.

Prince of Wales Hospital taxi from Sydney Airport
Randwick is one of the closest major hospital campuses to Sydney Airport. From T1 International it is about 11 km by road, usually around 20 to 25 minutes off-peak via Southern Cross Drive, and the domestic terminals are closer still. Your chauffeur tracks your flight, meets you in arrivals and takes you to the hospital or your accommodation. The A$12 airport pickup charge is part of the fixed fare.
Many visiting families stay in Randwick, Coogee or Kensington. See our Randwick airport transfers page for airport fares from the area.
Parking, light rail and a private car
Campus parking is accessed via the Barker Street entrance and is open 24 hours, run by Point Parking, with fees and some concession rates. Street parking around the hospital is limited. For public transport, the L2 Randwick light rail stops at the corner of High Street and Avoca Street, and several bus routes stop nearby; the hospital notes Barker Street is a steep walk up from some stops.
A car is the easier choice after day surgery, with a newborn, with an elderly parent, or when your trip home crosses the city. We carry folding walkers and chairs in the boot when there is room, but we do not operate wheelchair-accessible vans; tell us about mobility needs when you book.
Booking and fares
Short trips start at A$70 in a sedan, A$80 in an SUV and A$90 or A$110 in our 7 and 11-seat maxi vans, with longer trips priced on distance and quoted as a fixed fare before you confirm. For regular appointments we can set up the same pickup each visit. Call 0434 663 034 or book online with the hospital, building and time. Studying at UNSW next door?
